Jessie Mae Hensley

Mrs. Jessie Mae Hensley, age 71 of Calhoun, passed away Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at her residence following an extended illness. A native of Gordon County, she was born on November 26, 1941 to the late John Bunion Wright and the late Edna Jewell Dobbs Wright. She was preceded in death by a sister, Nellie Jane Edwards; a brother-in-law, Jim Hensley; and two sisters-in-law, Jo Hensley and Mildred Aaron.

Mrs. Hensley was retired from the Board of Education and was a Beautician, having owned and operated the Cos-Mo-Teeze Beauty Shop. She was an avid bowler, and was active in bowling leagues. She was a member of the Echota Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Arthur Hensley of the home; three sons, Tim Hensley, John Hensley, and Jonathon Hensley, all of Calhoun; two daughters and sons-in-laws, Melissa and Lamar Reynolds, and Karen and Daniel Mowry, all of Calhoun; a sister and brother-in-law, Patsy and Craig Long of Calhoun; grandchildren, Fred Hensley, Amber Hensley, Christina Hensley, Eric Mowry, Emily Mowry, Jamie Reynolds, Jake Reynolds, Breanna Reynolds, and Josh Hensley and great-grandchildren, Mason Price, Lacie Mae Hensley, Landon Mowry, and Jaden Hensley. Special members of the family surviving are Erin Caples, Shannon Jackson, and Denise Underwood. Other survivors include Nickie and Devin Childers.

Funeral services for Mrs. Jessie Mae Hensley will be held Friday, March 22nd at 2:00pm from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Walter Hare and Rev. Stacey Hensley officiating. Interment will follow in Chandler Cemetery. Active pallbearers will include Lamar Reynolds, Tim Hensley, Daniel Mowry, Sr., Fred Hensley, John Hensley, and Eric Mowry, Jr. Honorary pallbearers are Jack Hensley and Bill Hensley.

The Hensley family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Thursday after 6:00pm.
