Jewel Wofford Nix

Mrs. Jewel Wofford Nix, 93 of Calhoun, died Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at Gordon Health Care. She was born in Gordon County on June 4, 1921, daughter of the late John Milton and Lilly Arnold Wofford. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, John Henry Nix in 1989; and siblings, Arnold Wofford, Leon Wofford, Gertrude Smith, and Morrell Long. She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church,

Survivors include four sons, Morris Nix of Resaca, Milton Nix and his wife Linda of Calhoun, Marvin Nix and his wife Patsy of Calhoun, and Juan Nix and his wife Genie of Calhoun; two daughters, Varina McKeehan of Dalton, and Johnnie Bowers and her husband Jimmy of Calhoun; eight grandchildren; and eighteen great-grandchildren. Nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.

Services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Jewel Wofford Nix will be held Friday, February 13th at 11:00 AM from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Eddie Brannon officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Olive Baptist Church Cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

The Nix family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
