Obituary
Mr. Jimi Hall, 90, of Calhoun, died Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at Gordon Hospital. He was born in Floyd County on July 12, 1928, son of the late E.M. and Murlie Bledsoe Hall. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Hall.
Jimi was a veteran, serving his country in the US Air Force. Prior to his military service, he graduated from the University of Alabama, and afterwards, graduated from Georgia Tech with a Textile Engineering degree. He did post-graduate work at Lee College in music. He was an accomplished pianist most of his life, playing and singing gospel music professionally with the Harmoneers and other groups. He was a member of the Georgia Music Hall of Fame, and was Minister of Music for several churches, which he always said was the most satisfying thing he ever did. He and his wife Barbara had owned and operated the Crme Cellar and BJs Restaurant since 1987. Jimi was a member of Calhoun Community Church.
He leaves behind his wife of 38 years, Barbara Hall; his sons and daughters-in-law, Duane and Joy Hall of Philadelphia, PA, and James and Jennie Hall of Chattanooga, TN; his daughters and sons-in-law, Regina and John Sachav of Marietta, and Aletia and Jim Moon of Calhoun; grandchildren, Jason Hall, Corbin Hall, Patrick Hall, Laura Hall, Olivia Batista, Zach Carrier, and Ashley Carrier; and a sister, Sandra Reece of Houston, TX. A host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.
Services to honor the life of Mr. Jimi Hall will be held Saturday, November 10th at 12:00 noon from Calhoun Community Church, with Pastor Harold Jones and Pastor Jerry Rice officiating. Burial, with Military Honors, will follow in Fain Cemetery, with Pastor Donald Lee conducting the committal service. Pallbearers serving will include Steve Cagle, Ryan Swably, Jose Gonzalez, Mike Boswell, Bruce Barden, and Bill Jordan. Honorary pallbearers are John Rainwater and Sherold Salmon.
The Hall family will receive friends at the church on Friday, November 9th from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
