Mr. Jimmy Davis Rhodes, 66, of Resaca, died at his home, surrounded by his loving family, on Friday, January 9, 2015 following several months of declining health.
Jimmy was born in Piedmont, Alabama on March 3, 1948; he was the son of the late Adele Miter and Luther Rhodes. Jimmy treasured the memory of his step-father who raised him, the late DR Lyles. Along with his parents, Jimmy was preceded in death by his son, Kenneth Ray Hampton, in 2012; his grandson, Drew Hampton. He was a veteran of The United States Army who served during the Vietnam War. Jimmy had worked for Shaw Industries. He was of the Christian faith and Baptist belief.
Jimmy is survived by his loving wife of more than 46 years, Becky Rhodes; his son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Michelle Rhodes, of Dalton; his daughter and her special friend, LaRhonda Rhodes and Chad Malette, of Resaca; grandchildren, Michaela Pendergrass and her husband, Kurtis, Leslie Henderson, Rebecca Henderson, Cage Ray, Michael Dyer, Tia Greeye, Matt Cavender, and Labron Lewicki; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Roy and Eva Lyles, Timmy and Diane Lyles, Roger Lyles, Michael Rhodes, and Sam and Lois Rhodes; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Becky Sue and Cooter Moore, Anna Moore, Idema and Howard Strickland, and Kay Rhodes; his great-grandchildren, Chandler Pendergrass, Kristopher Pendergrass.
The funeral service will be conducted on Monday, January 12, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Harold Blackstock officiating. Military Honors will follow the service in the chapel. To honor his wishes, Jimmy's body will be cremated and burial will be a private service at a later date.
The Rhodes family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday after 4:00 p.m. The family requests that contributions be made to the Jimmy Rhodes Memorial fund, PO Box 1027, Calhoun, GA 30703, to help with final expenses.
