Obituary

Jimmy Donald Colston, 76 died on August 6 2018, at Gordon County hospital after surgery complications. A memorial service will be held on Saturday August 18, 2018 at Max Brannon Funeral Home on 705 Old Red Bud Road in Calhoun GA at 11:30 AM
Jimmy was born on December 13, 1941 in Shannon GA to James and Thelma Colston. He earned an Associate of Arts Degree from Alabama Christian College in 1963 and had a successful career as a drafting engineer in the field of Fire Protection from 1969 until his retirement in 2012. One of his proudest career milestones was designing the fire protection framework for the Braves Stadium in Rome Georgia!
He married Katherina Chrystostomou on October 29, 1967 in Athens Greece and had one daughter Chrisie Marie, in 1969 born in Atlanta GA.
Jimmy honored his country by serving in the Navy during the Vietnam War in 1963 as a communications officer and was honorably discharged in November 1967.
He was the oldest of 10 brothers and sisters who were very loving and close growing up. After his father passed, Jimmy took on the role of patriarch in the family and always led the family prayer at gatherings and holidays with pride. He was a very sweet and loving man that will always be remembered by his family and the community.
His wife Katherina, his daughter Chrisie, his brothers King, Rodney, Ricky and sisters Faye, Sheila and Jeanette survive him.
