Jimmy Levon Garland

Mr. Jimmy Levon Garland, 72 of Plainville, GA died suddenly on Sunday, December 20, 2015 at his home. He was a life-long resident of Gordon County, born on June 6, 1943, son of the late Sanford "Bob" and Rosa Silvers Garland.

Jimmy was a veteran, serving his country in the US Army during Vietnam. He was a Purple Heart recipient. He had been employed with Trend Mills and Fafnir, and had retired from Mannington Mills. He was a member of the Calhoun Full Gospel Church.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Jane Rutledge Garland; his sons, Von Garland of Plainville, and Keith Grizzle and Ed Grizzle of Clayton; his daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Kim Ray of Boise, Idaho; a brother and sister-in-law, Herman and Loreen Garland of Calhoun; sisters and brothers-in-law, Lois and Sylvania Welchel of Plainville, Doris Southerland of Calhoun, and Linda and Mike Barber; and grandchildren, Ethan Garland, Tony Grizzle, and Isaiah Grizzle. Nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.

Services to honor the life of Mr. Jimmy Levon Garland will be held Wednesday, December 23rd at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Hershel Pierce and Rev. Joe Fountain officiating. Interment will follow in Scott's Cemetery with military honors. Pallbearers will include Larry Garland, Jeff Rayburn, Mitch Sorrells, Roy Pierce, Nathan Pierce, and Jason Hudson.

The Garland family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday, December 22nd from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
