Jimmy Silvers

Mr. Jimmy Silvers, age 61 of Sugar Valley, passed away Friday, September 4th, 2009 following an extended illness. He was born in Gordon County on June 21, 1948, son of Florence Blalock Silvers and the late Edward Silvers. During his lifetime, he was employed in the textile industry before becoming disabled, and was a member of the Welcome Gap Baptist Church.

In addition to his father, he was also preceded in death by a son, Christopher Silvers.

Survivors include his wife of 26 years, Marilyn Silvers; his mother, Florence Silvers Hughes; two sons, Stacey Silvers of Plainville, and Anthony McDaniel and his wife India of Calhoun; a daughter, Tammy Arthur and her husband Glenn of Calhoun; three sisters, Linda Fowler and her husband Mack of Chatsworth, Joan Silvers of Sugar Valley, and Cindy Banks and her husband Bobby of Sugar Valley; and a brother, Ricky Silvers of Calhoun. Grandchildren include Dustin Massingill and Ashley, Mitchell Massingill, Terrance Massingill, Kayla Silvers, Austin Silvers, and Abigale McDaniel. Nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Jimmy Silvers will be conducted Sunday at 4:00pm from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Hayes, Rev. Ernest Channell, and Rev. Bailey Oliver officiating. Interment will follow in the Sugar Valley Baptist Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers will include Ken Talley, Dustin Massingill, Mitchell Massingill, Glenn Arthur, Josh Townsend, Larry Walraven, Ben Fowler, and Justin Thomas. The Men's Sunday School Class of Welcome Gap Baptist Church will serve as honorary pallbearers. Music will be arranged by Geraldine Greeson.

The family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Saturday from 6:00pm until 9:00pm.
