Joann Dixon Raines

Mrs. JoAnn Dixon Raines, age 68, of Calhoun, departed this life Sunday morning, July 3, 2016, and entered into the presence of her Lord.

JoAnn was born in Gordon County, GA on November 22, 1947, daughter of the late Lin Stewart "Boots" Dixon and Jewel Bennett Dixon. She was a member of the 1965 graduating class of Red Bud High School, and was retired from Mohawk Industries. She was a faithful member of Sugar Valley Church of God. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jessica Raines in 2012, and a sister, Vernita Dixon Burger in 2005.

Survivors include her husband, David Raines, to whom she was married for 49 years; her sons and daughters-in-law, Josh and Julie Raines of Calhoun, and Jared and Kimberly Raines of Sugar Valley; grandchildren, Jake and Joey Raines, and August Raines; a sister, Dixie Dixon Hayes and her husband Robert of Calhoun; and a brother, Glen Dixon of Calhoun. Several nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.

A service to honor the life of JoAnn Dixon Raines will be held Wednesday, July 6th at 11:00 AM from Sugar Valley Church of God, with Rev. Dwaine Shadix officiating. Interment will follow in Sugar Valley Church of God Cemetery. Pallbearers serving will include Garson Cornwell, Wayne Aldridge, Jim Roberts, Jerry Callahan, Jack McGaskey, and Tom Pickle. Honorary pallbearers are the Happy Hearts and Adult Sunday School Class of Sugar Valley Church of God.

The Raines family will receive friends Tuesday, July 5th between the hours of 6:00 PM and 9:00 PM at Sugar Valley Church of God.
