Joe E. Quarles

Mr. Joe Emory Quarles, 85 of Resaca, died Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at his home following several years of declining health. He was born in Bartow County on June 24, 1931, son of the late William E. and Alma Townsend Quarles. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Harold Quarles and Constatine Quarles; and sisters, Virginia Self, Jewell Bohannon, and Daph Blasengame.

Prior to his illness, Joe enjoyed racing, especially dirt track racing. He loved to hear his children play music.

He leaves behind his wife of 59 years, Dorothy Cook Quarles; his sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Donna Quarles, Barry and Hilda Quarles, Gary and Diann Quarles, Jeffrey and Teresa Quarles, and Joey and Debbie Quarles, all of Calhoun; his daughters and son-in-law, JoAnn Pratt of Canada, Vonda and Heath York of Calhoun, and Lisa Quarles of Calhoun; brothers, Bill Quarles and Norman Quarles; and sisters, Evelyn Ray, Brenda Gulledge Bohannon, Wilma Reed, Elaine Gulledge, and Jane Dover. Grandchildren surviving are Joe Quarles, Peter Quarles, Ruth Allison, Erica Rafael Leiva, Melissa Earl, Hunter Quarles, Timothy Quarles, Mary Quarles, Houston Dutton, Hannah Roberts, Wyatt York, Kevin Poarch, Kendra Poarch, Shannon Quarles, and Dallas and Jennifer Smith. More than 25 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.

A Memorial Service to honor the life of Mr. Joe Emory Quarles will be held Thursday, July 7th at 2:00 PM from Boone Ford Baptist Church, with Rev. Walter Bohannon officiating.

The Quarles family will receive friends at Boone Ford Baptist Church on Wednesday, July 6th from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Mrs. Dorothy Quarles, 605 Greeson Road, Resaca, GA 30735.

The family would like to thank Homestead Hospice for their compassion and care for Mr. Quarles.
