Obituary

Minister, pastor, Sunday school teacher, Husband, father, brother, neighbor, and friend, John Brown Ezell, age 79, passed from this world on February 5, 2018, following a bout with Pancreatic Cancer. Born on July 22, 1938, to John and Sara Jane Ezell, he was the youngest of six children.
He was married to Janell Fox on December 12, 1959, and they were married until her death in 2016. They raised three children together.
He was a long-time resident of the Bartow community, where he served on the Bartow County Planning Commission. He worked most notably as a postman and poultry farmer, and for more than 50 years, he had served in some capacity, minister, assistant pastor, or Sunday school teacher at Mt. Carmel Church of Jesus Christ.
He enjoyed his family, telling stories to his children, his garden, reading a good book, and tinkering with his old tractors. He was known for always helping out his neighbors, and his sense of humor. He loved walking in the woods, gardening, a good dog, and Little Debbie cakes, not necessarily in that order. He loved and admired his wife and children. He will be greatly missed by those he loved and those who loved him. When the cancer came, he decided to rely on his faith, and be joyful about having a full life, rather than sad about having to die.
He was preceded in death by Parents, John and Sara Jane Ezell; brothers, Tom Ezell, and Jim Ezell; and sister, Mildred Colston. He is survived by brothers, Jewel and Gene Ezell; sons, Stan (Emily) Ezell of Canton, GA, and Steve (Darlene) Ezell of White, GA; daughter, Connie (Jimmy) Ralph of Nashville, TN; and grandchildren, Candie (Mark) Kapanowski, Whitney, Jacob, Trent, Rebekah, Bret, Holt, Michael, and John.
Services to honor the life of John Brown Ezell will be held Thursday, February 8th at 11:00 AM from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Pastor Hershel Pierce officiating. Interment will follow in Haven of Rest Memorial Park. Pallbearers serving will include Steve Ezell, Stan Ezell, Jacob Langley, Mark Kapanowski, Tony Tankersley, and Jimmy Ralph.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, February 7th, from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM.
Condolences may be left at www.maxbrannonandsons.com. Funeral arrangements for John Brown Ezell are under the care and direction of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home of Calhoun.
