John Calvin Gowens

John Calvin Gowens, 91, a native of Piedmont, AL, died on Sunday, September 22, 2013 at Alexandria Place in Dallas, NC. He was born June 17, 1922 to the late Hattie Bell Kelley Gowens and Ebb Lee Gowens of Piedmont. John, known as "JC," retired from United Spinners of Lowell, NC.

He is survived by his son, John W. Gowens of Tucson, AZ; four daughters, Linda G. Heffner of Mt. Holly, Joan G. Brown and husband Boyce of Lewisville, Janice Lee G. Connor of Charlotte, and step-daughter, Betty Jean Riley and husband Reid of Pine Bluff, AK; sister, Esther Smith and husband Clayton of Calhoun, GA; four granddaughters, Sheri Heffner of Mt. Holly, Bonnie H. Winkler and husband Gary of Mt. Holly, Jennifer Brown of Wake Forest, Abbey Lee of Gastonia, and Summer Rain Conner of Gastonia; grandson, Bryan Brown and wife Beth of Rolesville; great-granddaughters, Danielle Johnson and fiancA
