John "Big Daddy" Lamar Bell, age 54 of Ranger, died Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at his residence following five years of declining health. He was born in Whitfield County on January 24, 1957, son of the late G.W. and Fannie Lou Henry Bell.
Before becoming disabled, "Big Daddy" was employed for many years as a diesel mechanic for Reeves Transportation.
Survivors include his wife, Kimberly Rene Casey Bell; two sons, Joshua Roberson and his wife Rebecca of Cartersville, and Elijah Roberson of Resaca; two daughters, Tiffany Rivera and her husband Jason of Resaca, and Crystal Petty and her husband Daniel of Edwards, California; a brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Joyce Bell of Calhoun; and a sister and brother-in-law, Sandra and Steven Tomlinson of Perry, Florida. Grandchildren surviving are Caden Roberson, Ryland Petty, Ollie Petty, Shawn Rivera, Marlee Rivera, and Emerald Roberson.
Funeral services for John "Big Daddy" Lamar Bell will be held Saturday, June 4th at 11:00am from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Ken Thompson officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Active pallbearers will include Joshua Roberson, David Brown, Terry Southerland, Donald Pass, Byron Greeson, Michael Hughes, Lane Greeson, Shane McGhee, Jerome McGhee, and Justus McGhee. Honorary pallbearers are Steven Tomlinson, Todd Greeson, and Tommy Davidson.
The family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Friday from 5:00pm until 9:00pm.
