John Robert Montgomery

Mr. John Robert Montgomery, age 70 of Plainville, passed away Wednesday, May 6, 2009 following several years of declining health. He was born in Dalton on November 19, 1938, son of the late Wayman Montgomery and Evelyn Peak Taylor.

Survivors include his wife of forty-two years, Mary Elizabeth Hunt Montgomery; two sons, Robert L. Montgomery of Atlanta, and Donal W. Montgomery and his wife Devin of Plainville; one daughter, Julie E. Carlson and her husband Dwaine of Ranger; three brothers, Charles W. Montgomery of Fort Walton Beach, Florida, Lloyd W. Montgomery of Marietta, and Johnny L. Taylor of Swainsboro; two sisters, Betty J. Mott of Panama City, Florida, and Delores G. Parker of Statesboro; two grandchildren, Glenda E. Collins and Duston W. Priest, and one great grandchild, Kymberly Elizabeth Grace Collins.

Funeral services for Mr. John Robert Montgomery will be conducted Friday at 3:00 p.m. from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Jackie Culberson officiating. Burial will follow in the Sugar Valley Old Methodist Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers serving will include Duston Priest, Charles Montgomery, Lloyd Nichols, Bill Hunt, Charles "Kokomo" Guyton and Johnny Taylor. Honorary pallbearers will include Buck Peek, David Montgomery, Rodney Collins and Wayne Priest. The family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home on Thursday, from 6:00p.m. until 9:00 p.m.
