Mr. John Sam Hufstetler, age 86 of Plainville, passed away Saturday, March 8, 2014 at his residence following an extended period of declining health.
Sam was born on March 9, 1927 in Bartow County to the late Adam W. Hufstetler and Georgia Ann Earwood Hufstetler. He was retired from Lockheed-Martin of Marietta, and had lived the greater part of his life in Gordon County. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon Faith Hufstetler; a son, Mitchell Hufstetler; sisters, Eva Bell and Aileen Smith; brothers, Joel Hufstetler and Almon Hufstetler; and a daughter-in-law, Linda Faye Hufstetler.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Allen Hufstetler, to whom he was married for 59 years; three sons, Randy Hufstetler, Gary Hufstetler, and David Hufstetler and his wife Betty of Plainville; a sister, Gaynelle King and her husband Fain of Cartersville; a brother, Eugene Hufstetler and his wife Margie of Adairsville; ten grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services for Mr. John Sam Hufstetler will be conducted Monday, March 10th at 3:00 PM from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Leonard Crawford officiating. Music will be arranged by the King Family. Interment will follow in the Damascus Church of God of Prophecy Cemetery in Plainville with military honors.
The Hufstetler family will receive friends Sunday from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home.
