Mr. John Thomas Hancock died Monday March 15, 2010 at Memorial Hospital. He was born in Gordon County to the late Clemon and Bertalee Hancock. Mr. Hancock was preceded in death by a brother, Clayton Lee Hancock and a stepdaughter, Lisa Collins.

Survivors include his wife, Sylvia Ann Hancock; mother-in-law, Lucille Lunsford of Chattanooga; a son, Johnathan Hancock of Dalton; two step-sons, Grady Hardgraves of Cleveland TN, and Robert Hardgraves of Chattanooga; a step-daughter, Jackie Lingerfelt of Rossville; six brothers, Curtis, Jacky, Clarence, and David Hancock, all of Fairmount, Gary Hancock of Calhoun, and Steve Hancock of Tennessee; seven sisters, Annie Mae Owens of Oakman, Dymple Townsend of Ludville, Sue Goble of Fairmount, Wilma Jean Brookshire of Ranger, Nancy Cox and Glynese Pierce of Calhoun, and Patsy Patterson of Chatsworth; and step-grandsons.

Services will be held at 11a.m. Thursday, March 18, 2010 from the chapel of W.L. Wilson Funeral Home in Fort Oglethorpe GA, with Rev. Ronnie Kesley officiating. Interment will follow in the Lakewood Memory Gardens East. The family will receive friends after 4:00 p.m. Tuesday and all day Wednesday at W.L. Wilson Funeral Home.
