Johnnie J. Dixon

Mr. Johnnie J. Dixon, age 80, of Calhoun, passed away Monday, October 1, 2007 at his residence. He was born in Bartow County on July 21, 1927, son the late John and Evie Elrod Dixon. Mr. Dixon was a used car dealer in his lifetime and enjoyed coon hunting. He was a veteran, having served his country in the US Army from 1945 until 1947.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Dixon of Dalton, and a sister, Marie Tipmon of Calhoun.

Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Joyce Gordy Dixon; two sons, John Dixon and his wife Tina, and Monroe McNeese and his wife Pat, both of Calhoun; two daughters, Louise Holtzclaw and her husband Lloyd, and Carol Bearden, both of Dalton; two brothers, Billy Dixon and his wife Gail of Calhoun, and Arnold Dixon and his wife Jo of Dalton; two sisters, Reba Banks and her husband Jimmy, and Sylvia Mulkey and her husband Donald, both of Calhoun; a sister-in-law, Bobbie Dixon of Dalton; and grandchildren, Justin Dixon, Alyssia Dixon, and Ashley Dixon. Several other grandchildren and great-grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Johnnie J. Dixon will be conducted Thursday, October 4 at 2:00pm from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Bro. Frank Hedden and Rev. Donald Bishop officiating. Interment will follow in the Haven of Rest Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday between the hours of 5:00pm and 9:00pm.
