Johnnie Mae Chitwood

Mrs. Johnnie Mae Chitwood, age 87 of Resaca, passed away Tuesday, May 4, 2010 at Gordon Health Care Center, following an extended illness. She was born in Whitfield County on June 23, 1922, daughter of the late Harry and Emily Mealor Bennett. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Wilburn Chitwood, a son, Ronald Chitwood, and a daughter-in-law, Judith Chitwood.

During her lifetime she was employed in the textile industry with Pinion Rugs.

Survivors include a son, Larry Chitwood of Calhoun; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Doug and Liz Bennett of Kennesaw, and David and Shirley Bennett of Cumming; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Helen and Paul Johnson, Bonnie Adams, and Mary and Dick Baldridge, all of Dalton, and Glenda and Bobby Bagley of Cohutta; two grandchildren, Corey Chitwood and Scott Chitwood, both of Calhoun; and a great-grandchild, Zachrey Chitwood of Calhoun. A special friend, Carolyn Bain of Calhoun, nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Johnnie Mae Chitwood will be conducted Friday, May 7th at 1:00pm from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Eddie Brannon officiating. Interment will follow in the Chandler Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 5:00pm until 9:00pm.
