Johnnie Mae Long

Mrs. Johnnie Mae Long, 92, of Calhoun, died Wednesday, February 22, 2017. She was born in Gordon County on May 18, 1924, daughter of the late John Thomas Talley and Myrtice Shipman Talley. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years in 1996, Jessie Long; her children, Bertha Jane Long and Johnny Edward Long; and sisters, Beatrice Tate and Christine Pinion.
She was a charter member of Russell Hill Baptist Church.
She is survived by her son, Jack Long and his wife Marilyn of Calhoun; sisters, Frances Hammock of Atlanta, Maggie Foster and her husband Ken of Calhoun, and Wilma Hawkins of Dalton; grandsons, Josh Long and his wife Laura, Jeremy Long and his wife Stacy, and Jared Long; a great-grandchild, Emma Long; and special friends, Faye Collins, Tammy Shugart, Brenda, Daisy Hyde, Geraldine Vess, Marcia Parker and Essie Burns.
The funeral service will be conducted on Friday, February 24th at 1:00 p.m. from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Isaac Johns officiating. Burial will follow at Russell Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers serving are Jeremy Long, Josh Long, Jared Long, Bud Faulkenberry, and Jerry Shugart.
The Long family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, February 23rd from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
