Jose Antonio Valentin

Mr. Jose Antonio Valentin, age 70 of Calhoun, died Saturday, March 19, 2011 in Gordon Hospital following several years of declining health. He was born in Sabana Grande, Puerto Rico on April 5, 1940, son of Julia Figueroa and the late Alfonso Valentin.

Mr. Valentin was an avid boxing fan, and prior to his retirement, loved his job, never missing a day of work with the Gordon County Board of Education. He was a member of the St. Clement Catholic Church of Calhoun.

Survivors include his wife of 21 years, Carmen Motes Valentin of Calhoun; a son, Edwin Valentin; a daughter, Shelly Valentin; and a granddaughter, all of Puerto Rico. His mother, Julia Figueroa of California; a special friend, Mary Taylor of Calhoun; and many other relatives and friends in Puerto Rico also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Jose Antonio Valentin will be held at a later date in Puerto Rico. There will be no local services.
