Joseph Alexander Joyave

Joseph "JoJo" Alexander Joyave, 78, died Saturday afternoon at Redmond Hospital in Rome.
He was born Oct. 23, 1939 in Baltimore, youngest of 14.
In 1959, he married Betty Jean Cordle and celebrated 53 years together before her death in 2012. JoJo married Carolyn Knight in 2014, his soul-mate regarding enjoying life of travel, flea-markets, auctions, yard selling and especially family!
JoJo quit school at age 16 to help with his family, joined the Air Force at age 18, obtained his GED and then an Associates degree in business from Troy University. After a 23-year career in the Air Force in Morale, Welfare and Recreation, recruiting and then Supply he retired as a Master Sergeant and then returned to the military for 18 more years in Civil Service before joining John and Joe at AGC Pediatrics in 2004. During his military career, he was stationed in Turkey, Italy, Arizona, Alaska, Maryland, North Carolina, Alabama, Louisiana and Texas.
"His legacy is that he was a dedicated husband, a mentor and example to his children and grandchildren and will be a difficult legacy to copy. He loved deeply and for the long term," Joyave said.
Grandson Joseph Joyave recalled fond memories of walking around at the Auburn football game together last weekend, and his youthfulness and nonstop energy.
"We thought he would outlive all of us," his grandson said. "He would run circles around us all," added his sister in law Mary Stewart.

He will be missed by so many." "There are no words to take away the pain, but it makes it a little easier knowing he lived his life being a positive influence on others and some day we will see him again in heaven"
During the holidays, JoJo went above and beyond in donating to organizations that help children, such as, Operation Christmas Child, VAC, Pregnancy Center and many others that expressed a need.
He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church. JoJo was involved in Citizens Against Meth in Calhoun and several other civic organizations in the community throughout his lifetime.
He is survived by his wife Carolyn Joyave; by his son Dr. Joseph Joyave and wife Sharon Joyave and their four children Joseph W. Joyave, Adam Joyave, Sara Joyave Cooley and Anna Joyave; and son John Joyave and wife Timie Joyave and children: Dr John Daniel Joyave, Trevor Strickland and Tylan Strickland; and great grandchildren, Grace Joyave, Ruth Joyave, Jack Joyave and Stella Joyave.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 21st from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Baptist Church, 1170 Rome Rd SW, Calhoun, GA 30701. Funeral services will be held Tuesday November 21st at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Baptist Church. Pastor Jerry Adair will officiate. Burial will follow in Fain Cemetery with Rev. Eddie Brannon officiating. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
