Joseph David Little

Joseph David Little, age 58 of Calhoun, Georgia, passed away Saturday, August 9, 2014 at Emory Hospital following an extended illness. He was born in Lincoln, Nebraska on September 28, 1955, son of the late James Perkins "J.P." and Lela Little. At the age of two, Joes family moved to Baker County, Georgia where he grew up.

Joe graduated from Albany State College and the Walter F. George School of Law, Mercer University. After graduation, Joe and his family relocated to Dalton for him to begin the practice of law. In 1990, the Little family moved to Calhoun where he became partner with Jones, Ledbetter, and Little, P.C. Joe later practiced with Ledbetter, Little, & Smith, LLC, and in 2000, Joe became a sole practitioner and ended his law career at the Roff House on Piedmont Street.

Joe had many interests including his roses, antiquing, spending time on the back porch with friends, and playing with his beloved French bulldog "Gus" at his office on the hill. His most precious gift was his daughter, Meredith.

Joe is predeceased by his parents, J.P. and Lela; his sister and brothers, Diane, Jim, also known as "Butch", and Mike; and his dog, "Gus".

Survivors include his wife, Elaine; daughter, Meredith; brother, Ronnie; and niece and nephews, Kelly, Greg, and Chris.

A celebration of life for Joseph D. Little will be held at his law office located at 312 South Piedmont Street, Calhoun, Georgia, on Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at 6:00 PM. It will be an informal gathering of family, friends and anyone who wishes to attend.

Parking will not be available at the office. Attendees are requested to park in adjacent lots and walk.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Gordon County Animal Shelter, 790 Harris Beamer Road SW, Calhoun, Georgia, 30701.
