Joseph Lamar Selman

January 17, 1953 — February 22, 2007

Joseph Lamar "Little Joe" Selman age 54, of Floyd County, passed away February 22, 2007 at his home after a short illness. He was born January 17, 1953, in Floyd County. Joe worked as a truck driver for 39 years, driving for Selman Logging and later for Matt Owens Logging. He attended Calhoun High School and Coosa Valley Tech. He attended Fellowship Baptist Church in Plainville, Georgia.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Katie Canada Selman and his grandparents.

Survivors include his wife of 10 years, Lisa Thomas Selman, and children; Jeremy and Natoshia; a son; Lamar Selman and his wife, Melissa; three grandchildren; Bronson and Benjamin Selman, and Erin Wallace of Summerville, Georgia. His father, Grady Selman of Armuchee, Georgia; in-laws, Calvin and Shirley Thomas; aunts and cousins also survive, as well as a "special friend", Jeffery "Scooby-Doo" Rollins; and a host of truck driving friends. Also surviving are Sabrina and her daughters Shelby and Autumn, Kartina and her daughter Mallory.

Funeral services for Joseph Lamar "Little Joe" Selman, will be conducted at 1:00pm on Saturday, February 24, 2007, from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Marvin Jackson, Rev. Kim Wolfe, Rev. Randy Martin, and Rev. Cedy Rollins officiating. Interment will follow in the Haven of Rest Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will include Wayne Selman, Franklin Selman, Ronnie Thomas, Michael Thomas, David Parsons, Steve Benton, Alvin Kerns, and Ben Touchstone. These gentlemen are asked to meet at the funeral home at 12:15pm on Saturday.

Honorary pallbearers will include the men and women who worked with him. They are; Matt Owens, Melvin and Paulette Owens, Dea Robinson, Roger Scoggins, B.J. Stephenson, Jeffery Rollins, Hank Rollins, Brad Kennedy. Also Bobby Kerns, Ralph Kerns, Sam Selman, and Tommie Canada. The honorary pallbearers are asked to meet at the funeral home at 12:30pm on Saturday.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday after 6:00pm. The online guestbook may be signed and condolences may be sent at www.maxbrannonandsons.com.
