Mr. Joe Lee Johnston Sr., 73, of Plainville, died at his home on Monday, October 9, 2017 after a sudden heart attack. Joe Lee was born in Floyd County on December 30, 1943; he was the son of the late Joseph Oscar and Dorothy Elizabeth Fowler Johnston. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Sally Chapman Johnston, earlier this year; by his grandson, Brayden Johnston; by his brother, T.H. Johnston. Joe Lee was a proud veteran of The United States Army; he served in the Vietnam era, He retired from Inlend Containers where he was a pipe fitter. Joe Lee was a master craftsman who enjoyed woodworking.
Joe Lee is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Tony and Fran Johnston, Michael Johnston, Ricky and Donna Johnston, Joey Johnston, and Tommy Johnston; his daughter and son-in-law, Sarah and Stanton Williams; his grandchildren, Bradley, Stephanie, Carolyn, Bradley, Elizabeth, Ashley, Baylon, Cole, Joseph, Sam, Wyatt, Colby, and Cheyenne; many great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
The Johnston family will receive friends on Saturday, October 14, 2017 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home. The memorial service will follow the visitation at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday from the funeral home chapel with Rev. Jr. Clayton officiating. To honor his request, Joe Lee's body was cremated.
