Joyce Dixon

Mrs. Joyce Dixon, age 79 of Calhoun, passed away Friday, November 13, 2009 at her residence. She was born in Hamilton County, Tennessee on August 13, 1930, daughter of the late Lloyd and Flora Belle Osborne Gordy.

During her lifetime, she was a homemaker and a seamstress, and attended Corinth Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Johnnie Dixon, and her first husband, Edward McNeese; a son, Jimmy McNeese; and a brother, Sonny Gordy.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, John and Tina Dixon, and Monroe and Pat McNeese, all of Calhoun; two daughters, Louise Holtzclaw and her husband Lloyd, and Carol Bearden, all of Dalton; a sister, Evelyn McNeese of Dawnville; brothers-in-law, Arnold Dixon and his wife Jo, and Billy Dixon and his wife Gail; sisters-in-law, Audrey Gordy, Reba Banks and her husband Jimmy, Sylvia Mulkey and her husband Donald, and Bobbie Dixon. Grandchildren surviving include Justin, Alyssia, and Ashley Dixon, Cindy and Jeff, Lamar and Mandy, Deidra, Rhonda and Junior, and Kim and Scott and their parents, Jim and Janie Horton. Numerous great-grandchildren, a great-great grandchild, nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Joyce Dixon will be conducted Tuesday, November 17th at 11:00am from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Dino Bishop officiating. Interment will follow in the Haven of Rest Memorial Park. Grandsons and great-grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 6:00pm until 9:00pm.
