Joyce Kay Fekete

Joyce Kay Fekete, age 80, of Calhoun, GA, passed away on March 19, 2025, surrounded by her loving husband and children. She was born on June 18, 1944, in Gary, IN, to the late Chester and Katherine (Schole) Murray.

Joyce was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother who never met a stranger. She cherished her friendships as deeply as family and left a lasting impression on everyone she met.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 61 years, Bert Fekete Sr.; her children, Bert Jr. (Annette) Fekete, Kathryn (James) Heater, and Patricia Amerson (Ray Bearden); her grandchildren, Kayla Schneider, Jordan Heater, Johnathan Amerson, Jacob Fekete, Emily Keller, and Noah Fekete; and nine great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her twin sister, Joan Sobzak, and her brother, Chester Murray Jr. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Kathleen Schraufnagel, Patrick Murray, and Karen Sibley.

Joyce attended airline school in Minnesota with dreams of becoming a stewardess and later retired from Pacesetter Steel in 2009. She was “queen bee” of the Red Hat Society and had a passion for flowers, music, reading, traveling, shopping, and giving back to others. She loved every holiday, spending time with her family and friends, and visiting the apple orchards.

A devoted member of St. Clements Catholic Church in Calhoun, Joyce lived her faith through kindness and generosity. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in her memory.

She will be deeply missed but forever cherished in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Memorial Service March 28 at 2:00 p.m. St. Clements Catholic Church, 875 Hwy 53 SW Calhoun, GA 30701.
