Joyce Holbert

Mrs. Joyce Holbert, age 70 of Calhoun, died Tuesday, April 12, 2011 in a Rome hospital following several months of declining health. She was born in Gordon County on August 10, 1940, daughter of the late Chester and Maybell Lawson Hicks. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, William Dennis Holbert; a son, Billy Holbert; a granddaughter, Tasha Holbert; and a great-grandchild, Trinity Holbert.

Mrs. Holbert was retired from the textile industry and was of the Church of God faith.

Survivors include three sons, Russell Holbert, Wade Holbert and his wife Cathy, and Gilbert Holbert and his wife Melynda, all of Calhoun; a brother, Bob Ray Hicks of Rome; and sister, Linda Parker of Dalton. Twelve grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Joyce Holbert will be held Thursday, April 14th at 4:00pm from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Eddie Brannon officiating. Interment will follow in the Chandler Cemetery. Active pallbearers will include Justin Holbert, John Holbert, Josh Holbert, Seth Holbert, Bodie Holbert, and Michael Hall.

The Holbert family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Wednesday from 7:00pm until 9:00pm.
