Mrs. Joyce Ward, age 69 of Calhoun, passed away June 15, 2007 at Gordon Hospital following several months of declining health. She was born in Atlanta on October 7, 1937, daughter of the late Lewis Herschel and Frankie Mae Jackson Lovvorn. Mrs. Ward had lived in Gordon County for forty years, and was a member of Bethesda Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Calvin Delano Ward; a son, David Anthony Ward; and a sister, Martha McKibben.

Survivors include two sons; Stephen Ray Ward and his fiancee' Jamie Morrison of Greenbriar, AK, and Terry Allen Ward and his wife Lisa of Adairsville; two daughters; Susan Marie McClinic and her husband Derrick of Calhoun, and Sandra Kaye Watts and her husband Jim of Denver, CO; a brother; George Joseph Lovvorn of Hahira, GA; a sister, Mary Susan Akridge of McDonough, GA; and six grandchildren; Jill Williams, Courtney Ward, Nicole Ward, Russell Ward, Josh Ward, and Rebecca Ward.

Funeral services for Mrs. Joyce Ward will be conducted Monday, June 18 at 2:00pm from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Shannon Akins, Rev. James David Nix, and Jerry Clements officiating. Interment will follow in Gordon Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will include Gary McKibben, Glen McKibben, Johnny Mulkey, Jerome Carver, Matthew Burgess, and Dorrell Hogan. These gentlemen are asked to meet at the funeral home Monday at 1:30pm. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday between the hours of 5:00pm and 8:00pm.
