Julia Anne Fortner

Julia Anne Mallory Fortner, age 83, of Calhoun, passed away April 23, 2025, at her residence following a lengthy illness. She was born in LaGrange, Ga., on April 22, 1942, to Wilfred M. and Julia Godfrey Mallory. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Aaron Lamar Fortner, in 2013, and her brother, Larry Mallory. 

She was a court reporter in the Superior Court in the Cherokee Judicial Circuit for 14 years.

Julia is survived by her daughters, Dana Brown and Kimberly Pott, and her husband, Jason. She has two grandchildren, Tiffany Thomas and Hayden Brown, and great-grandchildren, Brooklyn Elrod, Addison Brown, Bryleigh Elkins, and Breea Thomas.

Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, April 27, 2025, at 1:00 pm from the graveside of Fain Cemetery with Rev. Eddie Brannon officiating. The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 27th, from 11:00 AM until 12:45 PM at Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home. Pallbearers serving will include Tim Duvall, Juddie Campbell, Hayden Brown, Jared Smith, and Culton Thomas.

The family would like to thank special caregivers, Dawna Taylor and Stephanie Darden, for their outstanding care of Julia.
