Junior Reed

Mr. Junior Reed, age 71 of Calhoun, passed away Wednesday, May 14, 2008 at Redmond Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Reed was born on September 26, 1936 in Gordon County, son of the late Bill Reed and Ellier Payne Reed. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Ann Anderson Haney and Carolyn Reed Webb. During his lifetime, Mr. Reed owned and operated Georgia Auction Company, was associated with Dixie Trading Post & Flea Market, and the Reeds Auto Auction and Sales.

Survivors include his wife, Jannie Willene Hales Reed, to whom he was married for 52 years; a daughter, Sandra Lynn Townsend and her husband David of Fairmount; two sons, Randy Reed of Calhoun and Ricky Miller Reed and his wife Becky of Dawnville. Two grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Junior Reed will be conducted Saturday at 2:00pm from the chapel of Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Jimmie Timms and Rev. Doug Chastain officiating. Music will be arranged by Danny Defoor and Roy Lee Stephens. Pallbearers serving will include Kevin Rickett, Sam Momon, Jeffery Defoor, Randy Reed, Eddie Cochran and Bill Lewis. Interment will follow the service in the Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home Friday evening during the hours of 6:00pm and 9:00pm.
