Karen Marie Blackstock Hayes, 51 of Rome, formerly of Calhoun, died Saturday, September 24, 2016 at Redmond Regional Medical Center in Rome following several weeks of declining health.
Karen was born in Floyd County, GA on January 13, 1965, daughter of the late Glynn and Callie Worley Blackstock. She was a member of the 1984 graduating class of Calhoun High School and received her Bachelor's Degree from Ashford University. Karen was formerly employed by Gordon County Sheriff's Department, Whitfield County Sheriff's Department and the Calhoun Police Department. She was currently employed by Acosta Marketing Group as a field specialist. She was of the Christian faith and a Baptist.
A service to honor Karen's life will be held Monday, September 26th at 11:00 AM from the chapel of Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Kenneth Blackstock and Rev. Michael Blackstock officiating. The family will receive friends on Sunday 12:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Max Brannon & Sons funeral home.
Karen is survived by two sons; Eric Hayes and his wife Emily and Colby Hayes and his wife Samantha all of Calhoun; three brothers, Rev. Kenneth Blackstock and his wife Linda of Calhoun, Jackie Blackstock and his wife Charlotte of Pensacola, FL., and Rev. Michael Blackstock and his wife Debbie of Resaca, GA.; one sister, Kathy Blackstock of Calhoun; a special niece, Crystal Blackstock of Calhoun; three grandchildren, Zachariah, Isaac, and Lukas Hayes; and other relatives and friends.
The family ask that flowers be omitted and contributions be made to the Karen Hayes Memorial Fund, & Max Brannon & Sons, P.O. Box 1027, Calhoun, GA 30703 to assist with her final expenses.
The funeral services for Karen Marie Blackstock Hayes are under the care and direction of Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home of Calhoun.
