Mrs. Kathy Ann Cox, age 50 of Resaca, passed away Thursday, August 21, 2008. Kathy was born on July 23, 1958 in Fulton County, daughter of Martha Sue Brown Hoeflich and the late Fred Joseph Hoeflich. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a sister, Karen Sue Stell.

She had served in law enforcement for 30 years, currently serving for the Gordon County Government as the Code Enforcement Officer. Kathy was a volunteer member of the Nicklesville Department of the Gordon County Fire Department, a member of the Board of Directors of the Gordon County Senior Citizens, the Northwest Georgia Fair Association, the Blue Knights Motorcycle Chapter # 9, the Patriot Guard Association, the Gordon County Saddle & Harness Club, the State Code Enforcement Association, the National Association of K-9 Handlers, and had involvement with the Gordon County Juvenile Court. She was an avid lover of pets, and she and her husband owned and operated their farm in the Nicklesville Community. She was a member of Blackwood Springs Baptist Church and was a member of the church choir.

Kathy is survived by her loving husband Kenneth Cox, to whom she married on May 28, 1993; two daughters, Erin Landrum of Calhoun, and Kendra Beth Cox of Trion; a son, Darrell Landrum and his wife Amanda of Douglasville; her mother, Sue M. Hoeflich of Lithia Springs; a brother, Lee Hoeflich of Lovejoy; and two grandchildren, Sierra S. Landrum and Dakota R. Landrum. Several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Kathy Ann Cox will be conducted Sunday at 2:00pm, from the Trinity Baptist Church with Shane Parrott and Rev. Ken Conner officiating. The family will receive friends at the Trinity Baptist Church in Calhoun on Saturday beginning at 5:00pm. Honorary escort will be the staff and employees of the Gordon County Government, the Gordon County Fire Department, Calhoun Fire Department, Gordon County Sheriff's Office, Gordon EMS, Georgia State Patrol, City of East Ellijay, Calhoun Police Department, and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. The family and honorary escort will assemble at the residence, 693 Greeson Road in the Nicklesville Community on Sunday at 12:30pm, to depart in procession to the church for the funeral service. The family requests flowers be omitted and contributions be made to the Gordon County Winners Club or the American Diabetes Association.
