Katie Mae Kirby

Mrs. Katie Mae Kirby, age 84 of Calhoun, passed away Tuesday, December 25, 2012 at her residence. She born in Gordon County on May 2, 1928, daughter of the late Clyde and Maudie Edwards Patterson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Kirby in March, 2000; a daughter, Nancy Jane Kirby; brothers and sisters, Shank (Pat) Patterson, Ruth Payne, Gladys Saunders, Gertrude Barnette, and Nola Yancey; and a grandson, Dusty Dockrey.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Charlie and Dianne Kirby of Calhoun; four daughters, Kathy Young and her husband Randy of Calhoun, Barbara Lawson of Sugar Valley, Marilyn Kirby Roberts, and Linda Kirby Bridges, both of Calhoun; and a sister, Fannie Payne of Calhoun. Grandchildren surviving are Lorin A. Lawson, Lanne Lawson, Chuck (Gena) Kirby, Eric (Lisa) Satterfield, Shawn Satterfield and Windy Robinson, Ryan Satterfield, Christy (Jason) Meadows, Ritchie (Kate) Dockrey, Kelly (Randy) Black, and Natalie Roberts; and great-grandchildren, Alex Kirby, Chase Kirby, Callie Walraven, Ciera Lawson, Branton Lawson, Kalee Meadows, Jacy Meadows, Jocelyn and Minka Satterfield, Mason Dockrey, Baylee Dockrey, Samantha Coggins, Owen Gobel, and McKenzie Ashley.

Funeral services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Katie Mae Kirby will be held Friday, December 28th at 11:00am from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. David Ray officiating. Interment will follow in Gordon Memorial Gardens with Rev. Eddie Brannon officiating. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

The Kirby family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Thursday from 5:00pm until 9:00pm.
