Ken Smith

Mr. Ken Smith, age 73 of Calhoun, passed away Saturday, November 15, 2008 at Gordon Health Care. He was born in Murray County on August 19, 1935, son of the late King Narvil and Mary Warden Thomason Smith. Mr. Smith had been employed at Mannington Carpets, and was a member of Riverview Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by brothers, Jimmy Smith and Kellon Smith, and a sister, Peggy Smith.

Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Linda Faye Casey Smith; a son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Lisa Smith; two daughters, Pam Pomar of Marietta and Karen Robinson of Wisconsin; three sisters, Edress Nelson of Woodland, Georgia, Joyce Cook of Fairmount, and Kathy Burchett of Chatsworth. Seven grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Ken Smith will be conducted Monday, November 17 at 2:00pm from the Riverview Baptist Church, with Rev. Jamey Hunt and Rev. Howard Duvall officiating. Interment will follow in Gordon Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will include Chad Davis, Todd Davis, Mickey Smith, Scott Smith, Roger Smith, Billy Guy, and Donald Casey. These gentlemen are asked to meet at the funeral home Monday at 1:00pm. Honorary pallbearers will be the Men's Bible Class of Riverview Baptist Church, and they are asked to meet at the church Monday at 1:45pm. The family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Sunday from 5:00pm until 9:00pm.

Flowers will be accepted, or contributions may be made in Mr. Smith's memory to the Riverview Baptist Church Building Fund.
