Mr. Kenneth Brown, age 71 of Calhoun, died Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at his residence following several weeks of declining health. He was born in Gordon County on May 27, 1939, son of the late Ivus and Mildred Anderson Brown.
Kenneth was a graduate of the class of 1958 of Calhoun High School, and was a veteran, having served his country in the US Army for six years. He was a member of the Calhoun First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 26 years, Mildred Baker Brown; a daughter, Eleanor Brown of Villa Rica; two sons and daughters-in-law, Roland and Terrie Brown, and Greg and Marie Brown; a step-son, Sam Russell of Charlotte, NC; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Larry and Kathy Brown of Plainville, and Spencer and Glenda Brown of Sugar Valley; a sister and brother-in-law, Peggy and Howard Duvall of Sugar Valley; grandchildren, Joshua and Seth Brown, and Marielle Wotthing; and a great-grandchild, Madeline Brown. Other survivors include a special young man, Branton Bailey. Kenneth and Branton spent the last two years playing golf, laughing, and enjoying each other's company. Kenneth looked upon Branton as a grandson and loved him very much. They were both blessed to have had this time together. Nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.
Funeral services for Mr. Kenneth Brown will be conducted Friday at 11:00am from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Dr. Bert Vaughn officiating. Interment will follow in the Chandler Cemetery. Active pallbearers will include Dennis Crumbly, Tom Harrison, Tim Allen, Billy Hamilton, Jerry Bowen, and Gene Bowen. Music will be arranged by Donnie Nesbitt.
There will be no public viewing or visitation prior to the funeral service except for the immediate family.
The family has requested that flowers be omitted and donations made in Kenneth's name to the St. Jude Children's Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
