Mr. Kenneth Ponder, age 64 of Ranger, passed away Tuesday evening in Gordon Hospital following a heart attack.
Mr. Ponder was born in Gordon County on December 15, 1943. He was son of the late Charlie and Winifred Moss Ponder. He was a graduate of Fairmount High School class of 1962. Mr. Ponder loved the outdoors, was an avid fisherman, and enjoyed hunting deer and turkey. He was a member of the Coosawattee Masonic Lodge #306 Free and Accepted Masons.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Griffin Ponder; one daughter, Dana Real and her husband Grant of Baltimore, Maryland, and one son, Jason Ponder and his wife Cristy of Ranger, Georgia; one stepdaughter, Kristi Stanfield, and one stepson, Keith Stanfield, both of Calhoun. One brother, Haden Ponder of Calhoun; four grandchildren, Anna and Olivia Real of Maryland, and Haley and Houston Ponder of Ranger, Georgia; two step grandchildren; Matthew and Wyatt Stanfield of Calhoun, nieces and nephews and other relatives also survive.
Graveside rites will be conducted Friday, March 14th, at 2:00 P.M. from Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, with Masonic honors conducted by Coosawattee Lodge #306 Free and Accepted Masons. Pallbearers serving will include Tony Underwood, Ed Harkins, Ken Greeson, Richard Townsend, Clay Townsend and Steve Gray.
The family of Mr. Kenneth Ponder will receive friends beginning Wednesday evening after 6:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
