Kenny Chapman

Mr. Hiram Kenneth "Kenny" Chapman Jr., 58, of Calhoun, died on Sunday, July 10, 2016, at Gordon Hospital, following a sudden illness. Kenny was born in Gordon County on January 23, 1958. He was a 1976 graduate of Fairmount High School. Kenny was a member of Corinth Baptist Church, where he worked with the youth group; recently, he and his wife, Vickie, had helped to plant a new church in Calhoun. For more than twenty-five years, Kenny had worked with Mohawk Industries. A history buff, Kenny loved to study the past, especially World War II. He was an animal lover, a handyman, and loved woodworking. Kenny was preceded in death by his father, H. Kenneth Chapman Sr.; his grandparents, Bessie Lee and Kimbol Chapman, and Columbus Crook; his mother-in-law, Jean Aycock; his brother-in-law, Ricky Brookshire.

Survivors include his wife of more than thirty-seven years, Vickie Aycock Chapman, of Calhoun; his mother, Bertha Crook Chapman, of Sonoraville; his son, Robert Kenny Chapman, of Calhoun; his daughter, Kimberly Celeste Chapman, of Calhoun; his sisters and brother-in-law, Donna and Greg Samples, of Adairsville, and Denise Brookshire, of Calhoun; his brother-in-law and his wife, Steve and Cindy Aycock, of Sugar Valley; his grandmother, Odell Crook; his grandchildren, Sara Rebecca Lambert and Kevin Dale Lambert; his nieces and nephews, Rachel and Shannon Brookshire, Katie Presley, Ethan Samples and his wife, Magen, and Jake and Maranda Aycock and their daughter, Journey; his aunt, Ellaree Smith; his uncle, James Crook; his father-in-law, Jimmy Aycock; a special cousin, Barbara Jean Jones; many cousins, other family members, and friends.

The Chapman family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 12, 2016 from 5:00 until 9:00 p.m. at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at 4:00 p.m. from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home. Rev. Tim Ferguson will officiate with the eulogy by Robert Paris. Burial will follow at Blackwood Springs Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Mike Phillips officiating. Pallbearers are Troy Dutton, Alan Johnson, Terry Johnson, Ethan Samples, Jordan Bain, and Jason Woodward. Honorary pallbearers are Mark Phillips, Larry Johnston, Jake Aycock, and Allan Hedden.
