Obituary

Kim Smith Carey passed away suddenly on May 3, 2019. She was born in Dalton, Georgia on November 26, 1957. Kim lived in Live Oak, Florida, but was raised in Calhoun, where she lived and worked for many years. She was a graduate of Calhoun High School in the Class of 1975. She was employed for several years as the secretary of the Calhoun-Gordon County Recreation Department. In recent years, Kim was a housewife. While living in Florida, she enjoyed playing golf and was a member of the Suwannee County Womens Golf Association Kim enjoyed watching sports (She was an avid Georgia Bulldogs fan), travelling, and fishing in Key West and Horseshoe Beach. She was a member of Live Oak First Baptist Church. Her father, C.H. Smith preceded her in death. Along with her father, Kim was preceded in death by her baby sister, Barbara Ann Smith; her grandparents, Robert Lee and Dessie Smith and Glenn and Hattie Weeks; her niece, Debbie Wilkins; her nephew, Matt Carey.
Kim is survived by her loving husband of nearly thirty years, Curtis Carey; her mother, Nanka Smith; her sister, Gina Rawls and her husband, Perry; her cousin, Michael Whittemore; her aunt, Sis Whittemore; her cousin, Glenda Fuller, her mother-in-law, Betty Hodges; her brother-in-law, Dennis Carey and his wife, Sara; her nieces and nephews, Will and Katie Rose Rawls, Doug and Gretchen Wilkins, and Ben and Jana Carey; countless other relatives and friends.
Kims family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 07, 2019 from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday, May 08, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. from the Calhoun First United Methodist Church. Kims body will lie in state at the church on Wednesday from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. Burial will follow the service in the Smith family plot at Fain Cemetery. Rev. Eddie Brannon will officiate. Pallbearers are Dennis Carey, Doug Wilkins, Michael Whittemore, Will Rawls, Perry Rawls, Kevin Brown, David Burton, and Ben Carey.
Flowers are being accepted. The family has also suggested that memorials be made to Live Oak First Baptist Church, 401 West Howard Street, Live Oak, Florida 32064. Friends may sign the online guest register at www.maxbrannonandsons.com.
