Mr. Lamar Davis, age 59 of the Sonoraville Community, passed away Thursday, November 26, 2009 at Floyd Medical Center following an extended illness.
He was born on December 25, 1949 in Gordon County, son of the late William Clyde Davis and Clara Christine Smith Davis. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a sister, Betty Lou Davis. He was a member of the Adairsville Church of God, where he participated in the Prison Ministries.
Mr. Davis is survived by his wife, Helen Sue Hayes Davis; his children, Shane Davis and his wife Donna, Richard Davis and his wife Cindy, Tammie Bryan and her husband Stephen, all of the Sonoraville Community, and Joshua Davis and his wife Tonya of Adairsville; grandchildren, Tabitha Bradley and her husband Dustin, Richard Davis, Jr., Dustin Davis, Stephanie Bryan, Jeremy Davis, Elizabeth Bryan, Heather Davis, Dylan Bryan, Matthew Davis and Noah Davis; and a great grandchild, Hannah Bradley. Other survivors include brothers, Junior Davis and his wife Thelma, L.C. Davis and his wife Odessa, all of Calhoun, Johnny Davis and his wife Hilda of Sonoraville, Jerry Davis and his wife Linda, and Ray Davis and his wife Carol, all of the Red Bud Community; sisters, Norma Jean Stone of Ranger, Nina Jackson and her husband Hugh of Sonoraville, Joyce Kirby and her husband Ricky of Calhoun, and Faye Addy and her husband J.D. of Sonoraville. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Mr. Lamar Davis will be conducted Sunday at 2:00pm from the Adairsville Church of God, with Pastor Ken Coomer and Rev. Carlton Aycock officiating. Music will be arranged by Mr. Randall Lovingood. Active pallbearers serving will include Mike Evans, Ted Adkins, Barry Bennett, Charles Maloney, Tommy Shaw, and Johnny Patton. These gentlemen are requested to meet at the funeral home Sunday at 1:00pm. Honorary pallbearers serving will include David Smith, Elbert Jackson, Darrell Grizzle, Jeffery Davis, Michael Stone, Greg Davis, Brian Davis and Gerald Carlson. These gentlemen are requested to meet at the church Sunday at 1:45 pm. Interment will follow the service at the Haven of Rest Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Saturday after 5:30pm.
