Obituary

Larry L. Barnette, 76, of Calhoun died on Thursday, September 26, 2019. Larry was born in Gordon County on October 13, 1942. He was the son of the late Clifford and Ruby Jo Barnette. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of more than 46 years, Brenda Joyce Barnette, in 2011; his brothers, Ricky Barnette and and Sammy Barnette; his step-grandson, Danny Massingill. Larry attended Curryville Baptist Church. He worked in the carpet industry for many years; Larry retired from Shaw.
Survivors include his wife of five years, Louise Barnette; his children, Greg Barnette, Melody (Victor) Chastain, and Shane (Lori) Barnette; his grandchildren, Kyle Barnette, Alyssa Stanley, Autumn (Cody) Silvers, Tamara Barnette, Jacob Chastain, Kassey House, and Kayla Chastain; his great-grandchildren, Sawyer and Caroline; his siblings, Linda (Walter) Chastain and Jerry Barnette; his wifes family, including her children, Johnny Massingill, Matt Massingill, and Sarah Massingill; his many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Larrys family will receive friends on Saturday, September 28, 2019 from 6:00p.m. until 8:00p.m. from Max Brannon and Son Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held Sunday, September 29, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. from Oostanaula Baptist Church, with Bro. Sammy Allen officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Larrys body will lie in state at the church on Sunday from 1:00 until the funeral at 2:00 p.m. Pallbearers are Kyle Barnett, Jacob Chastain, Anthony Barnett, Levi Barnett, Hughdon Tate, Earl Vandyke. Honorary pallbearers are member of the Sugar Valley Lodge #733, Jack White, Jackie Fuller, Terry Nesbitt, Larry Stamey, Max Blalock, Rayford West, George Bidwell, Darrel Sutherland, Kenneth Starkey, Dewey Gravitt, Brian Grogan, Tate Rich, Earnest Choate, Mike Rich, Wayne Gazzaway, Larry Walraven, Doug Nesbitt, Ricky Gilbert, Wesley Bailey, Matt Massingill, Donald White, and David Massingill.
