Obituary

Mr. Larry Simmion Smith, 74, of Fairmount died Monday, January 14, 2019. He was born in Jackson County, GA on October 9, 1944; son of the late Julius Smith and Annie Davidsen Smith Teague. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 28 years, Inez Hightower Smith; a great-granddaughter, Jocelyn Mathews; a brother, Julius Reed Smith; and his step-father, Winston Teague.
Mr. Smith was a graduate of Walter F. George High School in 1962. He also attended Massey College. Prior to his retirement, he worked for Lucent Technologies.
Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, Lillian Faye Reagan Smith; sons and daughters-in-law, Travis Smith, Wendell Mathews, Randall and Donna Mathews, Michael and Leah Lee, and Mitchell and Tammy Lee; daughters and sons-in-law, Regina and Donny Walters, Tamara and Chris Edwards, Betty Wilson, Peggy and Rodger Pitts, Marilyn and Keith Gibson, and Sherrie and Tim Duncan; a brother and sister-in-law, Dale and Lisa Smith; a sister and brother-in-law, Pat and Bill Cass; grandchildren, Richard Walters, Chad Walters, Jada Edwards, Kristen Hardin, Alex Edwards, Tiffany Lee, Chanel Hancock, Ray Mathews, Jonathon Mathews, Elizabeth Gay, Bryon Mathews, Holly Bassett, Jennifer Hendley, Elliot Smith, Isabella Smith, Anastasia Smith, Scheherazede Smith, Victoria Smith, Francesca Smith, Dustin Scoggins, Brittany Miller, and Hannah Blaylock; 36 great-grandchildren; and 7 nieces and nephews.
The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, January 17th at 2:00 p.m. from Pleasant Valley Baptist Church. Rev. Keith Gibson will officiate. Music will be arranged by Brittney Miller, Hannah Blaylock and Jamie Balliew. Burial will follow at Haven of Rest Memorial Park. Pallbearers serving are Richard Walters, Alex Edwards, Chad Walters, Dale Smith, Mitchell Lee, Michael Lee, and Buck Mason.
The family will receive friends at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church, 3882 Red Bud Rd, Calhoun, GA 30701 on Wednesday, January 16th from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
