Lawrence Silvers

Mr. Lawrence Silvers, age 57 of Ranger, passed away Thursday, November 5, 2009. He was born in Gordon County on January 30, 1952, son of the late C.L. and Bessie Parker Silvers. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Ford Silvers.

Lawrence was self-employed in the drywall business, and was Pastor of the Church of Jesus Christ.

Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Sandy Guess Silvers; three sons and daughters-in-law, Ashley and Tracie Silvers of Fairmount, Jonathan and Kim Silvers of Calhoun, and Christopher and Marit Silvers of Palm Bay, Florida; a daughter, Joanna Silvers of Calhoun; nine sisters, Irene Davis of LaGrange, Elizabeth Tatum and her husband Jordan of Ranger, Shelba Marker and her husband Jackie, also of Ranger, Stella Tatum and her husband Joe of Adairsville, Doris Blaylock and her husband Buford of Calhoun, Charlotte Vaughn and her husband Bert of Boone, Kentucky, Sheila Calloway and her husband R.L. of Calhoun, Kathie Hartley of Calhoun, and Debora Tomlinson and Roger Davis of Calhoun; and a sister-in-law, Diane Silvers of Calhoun. Five grandchildren surviving include Ashton, Brinton, Kayla, Ottrell, and Kate Silvers.

Funeral services for Mr. Lawrence Silvers will be conducted Saturday, November 7th at 11:00am from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Joe Fountain, Freddie Craig, and Hershel Pierce officiating. Interment will follow in the Haven of Rest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday after 4:00pm.

Active pallbearers will include Paul Reeves, Mike Quarles, Eugene Burnette, Roger Davis, Everitt Nix, Hunter Quarles, Hubert Jackson, Calvin Miller, and Donnie White. These gentlemen are requested to meet at the funeral home Saturday at 10:15am. Honorary pallbearers are nephews and include Randy Marker, Dutch Scott, Tracy Tatum, Bryon Blaylock, Marshall Tatum, Larry Bain, Jeremy Silvers, Derick Silvers, Dustin Tomlinson, and Caleb Hartley.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
