Lawrence Timms

Mr. Lawrence Eugene "Lightning" Timms, age 79 of Calhoun, died Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at Shepherd Hills Healthcare in LaFayette, GA following several years of declining health. He was born in Resaca, GA on October 25, 1934, son of the late Chester and Celia Allen Timms. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Velma "Mohe" Caylor Timms; and two brothers, Berry Wilson "Cujo" Timms, and Otto Richard Timms.

Lawrence was a well-known businessman in Calhoun. He owned and operated Arch City Motors for over 40 years. He enjoyed watching car races and was an avid NASCAR racing fan. He loved everyone and had many dear friends. The caregivers and staff at Shepherd Hills loved him dearly and said he was their "favorite."

Survivors include a sister-in-law, Joan Timms of Calhoun; and nieces and nephews, Terry and Tony Timms, Jesse, Andrew, and Amy Timms, Susan, Heather, Brittany and Marcella Hobgood, Rhonda Charles, Bart, Michael, and Kirk Nation, Brenda Gates, Betty Caylor, Diane Pharr, Shannon Watford, and Britt Jordan.

Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Lawrence Eugene "Lightning" Timms will be held Monday, February 3rd at 1:00 PM from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Jimmie Timms, Rev. Terry Timms, and Rev. Sammy Allen officiating. Music will be arranged by Jimmie Lou Allen. Interment will follow in Gordon Memorial Gardens.

The Timms family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Sunday from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM.
