L.C. Gibson

Mr. L.C. Gibson, 77, a longtime resident of the Sonoraville Community, passed away on Tuesday, October 27, 2015 after several years of declining health.
Mr. Gibson was born in Pickens County on March 27, 1938; he was the son of the late Asbery and Ottie Mae Gee Gibson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Andrew (Hoot) Gibson. In 1960, he married the late Marcella Black Gibson who preceded him in death on August 16, 2013, after fifty-three years of marriage. His infant son, Michael, and his sister, Mary Callan also preceded him in death. For many years, L.C. was a farmer. He enjoyed working with his cattle and gardening. His family and friends will recall L.C. as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and neighbor.
Survivors are his son and daughter-in-law, Randall and Barbara Gibson, of Armuchee; his daughter and son-in-law, Tonya and Ross Hancock, of Rome; his sisters, Frankie Ferguson and Barbara Sluder; his grandchildren and their spouses, Zachary and Kaylee Gibson, Rachel and Drew Jones, Daulton Hancock, and Peyton Hancock; his great-grandson, Anderson Jones; nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
The Gibson family will receive friends on Thursday from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. and on Friday from noon until 2:00 p.m. at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be conducted on Friday, October 30, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home. Rev. Winfred Casey and Rev. Michael Hunt will officiate. Burial will follow the service at Blackwood Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers are Zachary Gibson, Daulton Hancock, Drew Jones, Charles Sluder, Tim Ferguson, Steve Ferguson, Terry Black, and Larry Black.
Friends may sign the online guest register at www.maxbrannonandsons.com. The funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home of Calhoun.
