Lee Roy "Papa Lee" Peeler, 72, of Calhoun, died at his home on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 following several months of declining health. Lee was born in Englewood, Tennessee on October 26, 1943; he was the son of the late Horace and Mollie Stanley Peeler. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, Horace and Beatrice Peeler Jr. Lee attended Resaca Schools. He was a veteran of The United States Army. Prior to his retirement, he was a control room operator with Dow Chemical. Lee enjoyed working at Home Depot after he retired; he loved visiting with all his friends. He had also worked at Shaw Industries. Lee was a member of New Town Baptist Church.
Survivors are his wife of more than thirty-one years, Mrs. Barbara Ann Turner Peeler; his sons and daughter-in-law, Rev. David and Susan Peeler, of Ranger, Charles Tankersley and Michael Willix, both of Calhoun; his daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca and Bo Boatwright, of Sugar Valley; his daughter-in-law, Cathy Tankersley, of Calhoun; his brother and sister-in-law, James and Margaret Peeler, of Calhoun; his grandchildren, Jeremy Brookshire, Cody Peeler, Mallory Tankersley, Linsey Boatwright, Kylie Tankersley, Molly Peeler, Laura Boatwright, and Jacob Peeler; his great-grandchildren, Lily Brookshire, Greanly Sheetz, Branson Brookshire, and Eli Frazier.
The Peeler family will receive friends on Friday, September 23, 2016 from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. at New Town Baptist Church.
The funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, September 24, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. from New Town Baptist Church. Burial, with United States Army Honors, will follow the service at Resaca Church of Christ Cemetery. Pastor Walter Hare and Rev. Tommy Prevette will officiate. Music will be arranged by Pastor Walter Hare, Laura Boatwright, and George Padgett. Pallbearers are George Christian, George Padgett, Jesse Hollingsworth, Chris Hollingsworth, Ronnie Reece, Jeff Watson, Bill Wilson, and Josh Justice.
