Obituary
Mr. Lee Roy Wilson, 76, of Calhoun died at Gordon Hospital on Thursday, December 20, 2018. Lee Roy was born in Gordon County on November 30, 1942; he was the son of the late Hugh Don and Mamie Gallman Wilson. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Herbert Wilson, and by his sister, Shirley Pass. LeeRoy proudly served his country in The United States Army. He had served as chief of the Gordon County Fire Department. He was a Mason and a Shriner. He was retired from the Building and Grounds Department of The Gordon County Board of Education. Lee Roy was a member of Booneford Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Bertie Wilson; his son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Corrine Wilson; his daughter and son-in-law, Sabrina and Chris Howard; his grandchildren, Chasity Howard, Charity Howard, C.J. Howard, Seraphina Wilson, Tristan Wilson, Ashley (Otis) Hicks, Amber (Kent) Picklesimer, and Bianca Wilson; his great-grandchildren, Kaylee, Cash, Olivia, Layla, Bristol, Memphis, and Tate; his step-mom, June Wilson; his siblings, Dwight Wilson, Yancey and Nancy Wilson, Mike and Kathy Wilson, Patsy and Vann Sims, Kay and Jeff Goldberg, Vickie and Dickie Goswick, Hugh Don and Rhonda Wilson Jr., Joey and Hannah Wilson, Margie and John Pettit, Kathy Wilson, Christie and Greg Wilbanks, and Holly and Craig Sisson; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
The Wilson family will receive friends on Saturday, December 22, 2018 from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be conducted on Sunday, December 23, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. from the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow the service at Haven of Rest Memorial Park. Pastor Gary Quarles, Pastor Terry Timms, and Rev. Taylor Gallman will officiate. Music will be arranged by Walter and Bryan Bohannon. Pallbearers are Kevin Smith, Heath Smith, Bogan White, Johnathan Davis, Brian Wilson, and Jacob Phipps. Grandchildren will serve as honorary pallbearers.
