Lela Foster

Mrs. Lela Foster, age 99 of Calhoun, passed away Wednesday, December 9, 2009 at Calhoun Health Care. She was born in Scottsboro, Alabama, on April 28, 1910, daughter of the late Noah and Betty Gipson. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Roger Foster, and her first husband, Wilburn Johnson; two sons, Wilburn Johnson and Alvin Johnson; two sisters, Ruby Mincey and her husband Daniel, and Leona Dunwoody; a grandchild, David Martin; and a nephew, Mark Mincey.

Survivors include nieces and nephews, Dan and Pat Mincey of Macedonia, Ohio, Paul and Maggie Mincey of Sumter, South Carolina, Margaret Patterson of Linden, Texas, and Betty McGaskey of Calhoun; a daughter-in-law, Catherine Johnson of Rome; and grandchildren, Lorene and Greg Camp, and Patricia Martin. Great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and several great nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Lela Foster will be conducted Saturday, December 12th at 2:00pm from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Pastor Roy Smith officiating. Nephews will serve as pallbearers. Interment will follow in Gordon Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Friday from 6:00pm until 9:00pm.
