Mrs. Leoma Hambrick Young, age 80 of Mount Olive Church Road, Fairmount, passed away Thursday, March 5, 2009 in Cartersville Medical Center following an extended illness. Leoma was born in Pickens County on May 20, 1928, daughter of the late Jim Hambrick and Ollie Hales Shephard Hambrick. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ellis Doyle Young, a son, Randall Young, and two brothers, James and Henry Hambrick.
Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Marcella and Billy Haswell of Fairmount, Carolyn and Jackie Parker of Calhoun, Hazel Gravley of Fairmount and her late husband Walter Gravley, and Suelane and James Redd of Rydal; sons and daughters-in-law, M.C. and Connie Young, E.J. and Phylis Young, Qullian and Penny Young and Tracy Young and his late wife Rhonda, all of Fairmount. One brother, Sammy Shephard of Fairmount, grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and great-great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Leoma Hambrick Young will be conducted Sunday at 3:00 p.m. from the Friendship Baptist Church in Pickens County, with Rev. Eddie Brannon officiating. Music will be arranged by the Travelers by Faith singers. Interment will follow in the Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers serving will include Joey Payne, Brent Parker, Kim Redd, Tim Redd, Sonny Parker, Billy Bradshaw, Russell, Redd, Raymond Hall, Keith Young, Eric Young, Steve Young, M.C. "Jourin" Young and Brandon Bradshaw. The family will begin receiving friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home on Friday, after 6:00 p.m.
