Lester Eugene Silvers

Mr. Lester Eugene (Gene) Silvers, age 74 of Red Bud Road, Ranger, passed away Wednesday morning, February 20, 2008, at his residence following a long illness. Mr. Silvers was born in Ramhurst, Georgia, son of the late Clifford and Lizzie Wooten Silvers. During his lifetime, he was associated with the Gold Kist Corporation of Calhoun in the poultry department. He attended the Fairview Church of God. Mr. Silvers is survived by his wife, Nellie Tatum Silvers, to whom he was married for 56 years; four daughters, Wanda Parker and her husband Harrison of Chatsworth, Christie Temples and her husband Larry of Ranger, Cindy Howard and her husband John of Richmond Hill, and Sheri Ponders and her husband Michael of Chatsworth; one son, Michael Silvers of Ranger; eight grandchildren, Shannon Silvers, Brooke Peeples, Brittney Wilson, Bryeanne Temples, Walter McKinney, Crystal Bearelehis, William Ponders and Joseph Ponders; six great grandchildren, Hannah Wilson, Houston Wilson, Conner Ponders, Cole Peeples, Belle Anne Peeples and Jared McKinney; two sisters, Geraldine Greene of Oakman, and Mary Pettit of Ringgold; three brothers, James Silvers and Roscoe Silvers, both of Oakman, and Arvil Silvers of Blue Ridge. Nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services for Mr. Lester Eugene (Gene) Silvers will be conducted Friday at 2:00 p.m., from the chapel of Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home, with Pastor Daron Henson and Pastor Ed Pasley officiating. Singing will be arranged by the Fairview Trio. Active pallbearers serving will include William Ponders, Joseph Ponders, Shannon Silvers, Michael Wilson, Bryce Peeples, and Walter McKinney. Interment will follow the service in the Fairview Church of God Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home Thursday, between the hours of 4:00pm and 9:00pm.
