Mr. Lewis Eugene Evans, age 73 of Calhoun, passed away Sunday, January 20, 2008 at his residence. He was born in Gordon County on May 30, 1934, son of the late Vince and Martha Clyde Chitwood Evans. Mr. Evans was retired as a supervisor in the textile industry, and was a member of Erwin Hill Church of God. He was a veteran, having served in the US Army. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Dutton Evans, and seven brothers and sisters.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law; Shaun and Teesha Evans of Adairsville; a daughter and son-in-law, Courtney and Marty Franklin of Calhoun, daughter, Tami Karim of Calhoun, and daughter Candi Lamb of Resaca; a brother, Vincent Evans of Calhoun; and a sister, Margaret Rice of Acworth. Four grandchildren; Leah Karim, Kirstin Evans, Hunter Franklin, and Aniston Franklin, and many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Lewis Eugene Evans will be conducted Wednesday, January 23 at 2:00pm, from the Erwin Hill Church of God, with Dr. James Shope and Rev. Jeff Dutton officiating. Interment will follow in the Gordon Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will include Anthony Mulkey, Scott Byars, Steve Hudgens, Troy Dutton, Tracy Gowens, and Gus Karim. These gentlemen are asked to meet at the funeral home Wednesday at 1:00pm. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday after 3:00pm.
