Mrs. Lillie Craig Smith, age 78, of Calhoun, passed away Friday, February 9, 2007 at Gordon Hospital. She was born on March 10, 1928, in Centre, Alabama, daughter of the late Bascum and Annie Bell Gravely Craig. Mrs. Smith was a mother, homemaker, and farmer.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, William "Boyd" Smith, on July 28, 2003, by two sons, John William Smith and John Grady Craig. Survivors include six sons; Earl and Robert Smith of Rome, Marvin Smith of Adairsville, Johnny and Ricky Smith of Taylorsville and Donnie Smith of Kingston; four daughters; Martha White of Calhoun, Lucille Smith and Elizabeth Darling of Aragon and Kathy Bradshaw of Kingston. Four brothers; George Craig of Cartersville; James Craig of Calhoun; Leroy Craig of Adairsville; and Clyde Craig of Rome; three sisters; Mary Akins of Adairsville; Carol Smith of Euharlee; and Rosa Lee Prater of Kingston. Thirty two grandchildren, forty one great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. Lillie Craig Smith will be conducted on Tuesday, February 13, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. from the Mount Pisgah Baptist Church in Kingston, with Rev. Jackie Culberson and Rev. David House officiating. Singing will be arranged by the Jericho Travelers. Interment will follow in the Mount Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers serving will include Alton Smith, Corey Smith, Michael Smith, Earl Smith Jr., Walter Bradshaw, and Thomas Dotson. Honorary pallbearers will include Wayne Smith and Bobby Smith. The family will receive friends at the residence of her son Earl Smith at 320 Nichols Rd. in Rome, Georgia beginning Saturday evening at 6:00 p.m.
